“Dementia care should be deeply personal – built on patience, understanding and compassion, helping each person feel safe, valued and understood every day.”

Specialist Dementia Care

If your loved one is living with dementia or Alzheimer’s, you want care that preserves their dignity and makes each day meaningful. At every Heartlands Care home, we provide nursing dementia care and residential dementia care. Our entire team have not just specialised training in dementia care, but they can draw on literally decades of experience to make every aspect of life so much better and fulfilling for those living with these conditions.

What this means in practice:

Our environment:

We are a world away from the cavernous corridors and intimidating, large communal areas of many new-build care homes. We pride ourselves on creating a very comfortable, “home-from-home” atmosphere, supported by:

  • Secure gardens which allow safe, independent outdoor time
  • Clear signage to help with navigation
  • Indoor areas that are calm, comfortable and homely, maintained to very high standards.

Our approach:

  • Team members identify and avoid things which may trigger anxiety, unwanted behaviour or reluctance to accept personal care
  • Activities are multi-sensory and designed to stimulate as well as reduce anxiety
  • Team members learn each person’s life story to provide personalised responses
  • We maintain familiar daily routines that provide comfort
  • Regular music therapy and singing sessions aid memory and mood

Your care plan:

We work closely with you, your family members, and medical professionals to create detailed, 18-section care plans that meet individual needs and preferences. Our team, supported by the latest in care technology, constantly monitors and adapts these as needs change, and we always seek to involve you in changes to care plans.

At every Heartlands Care home, there is a fantastic range of interactive activities, excursions and therapeutic approaches, all designed to support cognitive stimulation and physical and mental wellbeing.

As a family-run business, we understand the importance of regular communication with loved ones. We offer completely flexible visiting hours, the latest technology for phone and video calls, and a welcoming community. We love inviting friends and families into our close-knit community for our regular family events and actively encourage residents to get involved to strengthen bonds and enhance social engagement.

Each home in our small, family-run care home network benefits from a calm and homely atmosphere, each offering residents access to pleasant, secure and well-maintained outdoor spaces.

We’d love to show you around—please get in touch with the team to arrange your visit and chat about our bespoke care plans and fees.
